ISOLA
DEI CAVOLI
It's situated right opposite
Capo Carbonara and it's the southerly most point of
south-east Sardinia. There's a large bay facing south
called Cala is Cascias. The whole island is covered by
mediterranean maquis, flattered by the wind. The rough
coastline of granite rocks is intersparsed with tiny
beaches. Here stands a light house and a 16th century
Spanish tower. The sea bed is rich in marine life and
it's classified in a zone B protected area, wich means
no scuba fishing or unauthorized navigation are allowed,
only swimming and navigation with low speed craft is
permitted. A Spanish ship lying on the sea bed testimony
the fact the waters off the coast were a serious danger
to sailing ships in past times. Objects found here are
housed in the Archeological Museum of Villasimius.
